Ex-convent in San Angel

The day we went to San Angel was really nice because the plan was to go to Mexico City and see some museums. Which ones? We weren't sure. While looking for an art museum we ran into an ex-convent that was a museum and went inside. Turned out to be real nice.

Can't argue with old paintings.

RAWR RAWR BLAR. Who knows what these guys are saying, but I like that they wrote it out. Some of the painting the words were coming out of their mouths upside down.

Up on top. The place was actually quite spacious.

Nice gardens.

By far the best part was the mummies down in the crypt. Apparently in 1910 during the revolution people raided the convent looking for treasure. While digging in the crypt they found these old mummies. They were quite interesting to look at and a little scary.

My camera was running out of batteries so these were all the pictures I managed to get of the mummies. :(

This is a replica of the standard that Cortez brought into Mexico City when the Spanish first showed up.

Wow.

Any idea how old these mummies are?
