This picture is of a fountain in a rich guys house that is now a museum.
The fountain if made up of Chinese bowls. I'd heard that people did this but never seen it in person.
His backyard. He also had a big library.
Sitting in a market under a Virgin.
Grody Jebus sitting down too. Lots of these grody Jesus statues around.
The nice convent behind the church in San Angel.
Just some interesting interior details.
I like stairs.
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera had a house in San Angel. The house had two parts, this blue part is hers. Apparently they would sleep in "his" house unless they were fighting and then she would stay in "her" house. The houses are connected on top by a overpass thingy. She was from Coyoacan and we went to see her house, known as the blue house, there too.
There were lots of old stuff of Diega Rivera here. His room was interesting because it was set up with his stuff apparently as it was. His shoes on the floor, etc. There were giant paper mache monsters in his art room. Fun to see. Just down the road was an hacienda that had been converted into a hotel. That's a random detail but I just love to see the old haciendas.
Anna on a typical Mexican street on our way out of San Angel.

What's with these old statues. There are some weird ones down there. Theres an aweful one in a cathedral across the border from El Paso, Texas. They are so nicely realistic but so grissly that you only dwell upon his death, and not his resurrection.
Did you ever read "Incidents of Travel in Yucatan", Volume 1 and 2, by John L. Stephans? They were first published in 1843. I found them fascinating not only for the engravings of old mayan ruins, but also the account of the weird and fascinating cultural things of the time. (before things were altered by our modern American way of life)
