Tula River

This is the nice view looking north at the Tula River from the road we lived on. The river is hidden below these large trees. There was a hot springs at the bottom that was a popular vacationing spot and a small water park had been built up. Lots of people on the weekends.

These are the giant trees that grow by the river. I wish I could remember what they are called. There were a couple of rickety wooden bridges to cross.

Looking back at the hot springs.

Standing on the bridge with Don Tomas. He likes to walk down by the river and he liked to show us the plants. This was actually our last day with the Garcias and we wanted to take some pictures of the river. Any time he saw us headed down to the river he wanted to come.

There were a lot of small little waterfalls that were almost like leaks on the hill.

The bottom looked like it had been mowed but it was actually from people bringing their sheep down to the river.

These are some pictures of the river. Nowadays the river is polluted with water from Mexico City. This is pathetic because the river was so beautiful, even with the stinky water. It was very sad to see the brown water.

This is my favorite picture of the bunch.

At this point we stopped. We had come down the river to see some old symbols painted on the cliff face. No one knew how old they were. Apparently there had been some burial sites up on the cliff above the symbols (which the locals called "el aguila" - the eagle - but those had long since been raided. I don't think archaeologists ever got to see the site. Apparently some guy thought there was buried treasure and bought the land around the area and started digging with big machinery but never found anything.

I like the tangled roots.

I think this is a nice picture of Anna.

This is the view from around the aguila looking back towards Tezontepec.

Wow. What a beautifully enchanting place. Lovely. In the second to the last picture, what is the weird green stuff up close on the roots?

The pictures of you and Anna on the bridges are so delightful. Hopefully, that place will be able to stay like that. No subdivisions!!!!
